While the rest of the industry was busy with prototype DH bikes with 29" wheels aimed at professional mountain bikers, we delighted the wider public by launching the first 29er downhill bike. The Session C 29 frameset combines fast-rolling 29er performance with our proven downhill technology.

• A World Championship atmosphere: This year, Reece Wilson of the Trek Factory Racing Team jumped aboard his Session and flew down a treacherous course to claim the rainbow jersey, taking plenty of risks that paid off. This truly gutsy race earned him a place in downhill history.

Trek was founded in 1976 in Waterloo, Wisconsin, by Dick Burke and Bevil Hogg and is still based in the same city today. It makes road, mountain, gravel, city and electric bikes to support different ways of riding. Its story began in a barn, with 904 steel touring frames produced in its first year.
