The Avid Shorty Ultimate brake calliper is a cantilever calliper for cyclocross, designed for riders seeking a good balance of power, control and weight. It comes in a wide-stance front version, which leaves more mud clearance between the brake pad and rim, and a narrow-stance rear version. It is the right choice if you often ride on muddy surfaces or mixed terrain.
The inline cable adjuster lets you adjust cable travel, and the quick release makes wheel removal easier. Standard road cartridge brake pads are already fitted. Consider the stance: wide for more mud clearance, narrow for more power. Then check the position, front or rear. The colour is black.
