Végétalex is a revolutionary tyre sealant that is biodegradable and completely plastic-free: kind to the environment, long-lasting and easy to clean, it provides a high level of puncture protection for tubeless tyres, tubular tyres and inner tubes.

  • Plant-based puncture repair ingredients (winner of the Design and Innovation Award 2021)
  • Excellent longevity
  • Adds little weight to the wheels when used in the recommended quantities
  • Compatible with the use of CO2 cartridges
  • Biodegradable and completely plastic-free
  • Its very low maintenance requirements (in most cases it will last an entire season) also make it ideal for e-bikes
  • Easy to clean

Our Caffelatex tyre sealant has an impressive record of wins demonstrating its performance, along with many satisfied users worldwide. As we should all do our best to reduce our environmental impact, we began working on a plant-based sealant that would be both environmentally friendly and highly effective against punctures, much like Caffélatex. It took more than two years of development, but we can now say that Végétalex has exceeded our expectations.

Plant-based repair particles and fibres

Most tyre sealants use slowly biodegradable liquid polymers (such as natural or synthetic latex) to repair punctures; Végétalex, however, contains only plant-based particles and fibres, finely ground olive seeds and cellulose fibres, to provide exceptional hole-sealing performance. This mixture, held together by xanthan gum (produced from simple sugars), repairs punctures ranging from tiny pores in the tyre to larger cuts (up to 5 mm) quickly and permanently.

Long-lasting

Longevity was one of the priorities of the “Végétalex” project. By relying on a sophisticated mix of natural particles of different shapes and sizes with xanthan gum, rather than on a liquid polymer solidifying to repair punctures, Végétalex remains effective inside tyres for a long time. Starting at 3 months in the worst-case scenarios (very porous tyres in hot weather and a small quantity of sealant), Végétalex will continue to repair punctures for more than 6 months inside most tyres. This also makes it suitable for use inside inner tubes.

Lightweight

Végétalex has been developed to flow readily, so that a small quantity goes a long way in covering the tyre’s inner surface. For Végétalex, we recommend using approximately 20% more than the quantities recommended for Caffélatex. For example, for a 29×2.10 (54-622) tubeless-ready tyre, we recommend a minimum of 70 ml of Caffélatex or 84 ml of Végétalex.

Compatible with the use of CO2 cartridges

Végétalex is not damaged by the use of CO2 cartridges.

Biodegradable and completely plastic-free

Végétalex contains no ammonia or other harsh chemicals and is neither toxic nor corrosive. Végétalex contains no macroplastics or microplastics, no rubber particles (note that recycled rubber decomposes very slowly!) and no aramid fibres (which remain in the environment for a long time…): all Végétalex ingredients are highly biodegradable. Végétalex does not cause allergic reactions in people allergic to products made with natural rubber latex. However, it may contain traces of nuts.

WARNING: oxidation of aluminium rims can occur due to the sealant’s water content, and occurs when the metal surface is not painted / anodised or covered with a rim strip or tubeless tape

Low maintenance

Being able to “forget” about tyre sealant is every tubeless user’s dream. Especially for those of us who do not ride very often, uncertainty over whether the sealant is still liquid inside our tyres can spoil the enjoyment of a ride. We say that Végétalex is ideal for e-bikes because e-bike riders often have more complex bikes, batteries and electronics to deal with; a low-maintenance sealant is certainly a welcome change. When used in tyres with generous wall thicknesses, such as those specifically designed for e-bikes, Végétalex will easily last an entire riding season, allowing you to spend less time maintaining your bike and more time riding.

Easy to clean

Végétalex contains no dyes or fast-solidifying polymers, so it is very easy to remove from surfaces. Even once dry, Végétalex can be cleaned off with soapy water and a brush.

Advice and operating and storage temperatures

Operating temperatures: -20 / + 50 ° C
Storage temperatures: -15 / + 30 ° C

Végétalex has a shelf life of 2 years from when the bottle is first opened, provided that the bottle is properly closed and stored away from direct sunlight, and the storage temperature remains within the range indicated above.

It is important to shake the Végétalex bottle well before injecting the sealant into the tyres.
If additional protection is needed, for example for a multi-day ride over rocky terrain with plenty of thorns, we recommend adding 30 ml of product to the recommended amount.

Sizes

Végétalex is available in 1000 ml and 250 ml bottles. The bottles come with a flexible tube to allow the sealant to be injected directly through the valve. Végétalex Pro Point is available in a 5-litre size for teams or shops.

Hazard identification

The product is not classified as hazardous under the provisions of Regulation (CE) 1272/2008 (CLP) (and subsequent amendments and adaptations).
