Technologies

Free Stroke Reach Adjust

The distance between the grip and the lever can be adjusted to fit hands of any size and the rider’s style and preferences.

I-spec

Integrated mounting system for the shifter and brake lever. Ensures a clean look, more space on the handlebar area, and weight reduction.

Servo Wave Action

When operating the Servowave brake lever, the initial cable pull is faster, so a small lever movement is enough to bring the pads into contact with the brake rotor. Then the power multiplication factor quickly increases at contact, so a larger lever movement is used to apply more force with higher brake control levels.

Ice Technologies

Incorrect setup of the disc brake rotor and pads during long descents, for example, negatively impacts brake performance. Shimano adopted Ice Technologies rotors and pads to achieve cooling technology that ensures consistent performance. The coated disc brake rotor blade, featuring a 3-layer sandwich structure of stainless steel, aluminum, and stainless steel, provides better heat dissipation (from 400˚C to 300˚C surface temperature). The cooling fin on the pad ensures less wear, less noise, less efficiency loss, and lighter weight.

One Way Bleeding

The “One Way Bleeding” function was developed to ensure easy and quick prevention of air infiltration in Shimano hydraulic systems. The entire oil circuit in the system has been optimized to prevent air bubbles inside. The unidirectional oil circuit, together with a funnel tool and mineral oil, guarantees an easy and clean bleeding system.
