Greg Minnaar’s exclusive tire, the Maxxis Assegai, offers tenacious and predictable grip across the entire profile, regardless of lean angle. The Assegai can be used both front and rear for a confident feel or as a front paired with a faster rolling rear tire.

Technology:

    Tubeless Ready:

    Tubeless ready tires offer the rider several advantages: the ability to use lower air pressures, which improves traction; lower rolling resistance compared to a tire with an inner tube; and less chance of flats because there is no tube. Tubeless ready tires are marked with the letters "TR" on the sidewall.

    Tubeless ready tires must be mounted on tubeless-compatible rims and require the use of a liquid sealant to maintain pressure. Liquid sealants have the added benefit of sealing small punctures. Be sure to check the sealant regularly and refresh it as needed since it will dry out over time.

    Liquid sealants should only be used in the following types of tires: road tubeless, tubular, and tubeless ready. Using liquid sealants in any other Maxxis tire will void the warranty.

    WIDE TRAIL

    The Wide Trail (WT) construction optimizes the tread layout and profile of the tire on today’s wider modern rims. Traditional tires are designed around older, narrower rims and can create an overly square tire profile, leading to suboptimal performance. WT tires are optimized for a 35 mm internal rim width but have been shown to work on a range of internal rim widths from 30-35 mm, depending on rider preference.

    DH CASING

    The Maxxis DH Casing for Downhill MTB tires consists of two layers of 60tpi fabric with a rubber coating that goes from bead to bead, providing extra protection and lateral stiffness for enduro and Downhill applications, with the addition of a butyl rubber layer in the bead area to offer rim edge protection and add sidewall stability.
